Equipment ,Sound track pro and After affects

In this lesson we learnt how to use After affects. After affects is an extremely useful way of editing films and video media. It allows you to add and edit, with thousands of different sources of editing. In this after affects recording we edited in the names of my cast into the film mission impossible 3.

I used sound track pro on the introduction of the film Panic Room. This was great practice for when I come to use the application for my own opening sequence. I found this effect quite hard to use when I first started but as I got used to it I found it very enjoyable to use. This is an effect that I will definitely want to use when I have put together my film.

In our media lesson we had a whole hour on being taught how to put the equipment together and how to use it. We had a look at the crane, the dolly and the over the shoulder camera. This lesson was useful because it enabled us to go out and use the cameras straight away. This was also a extremely useful lesson because it meant that we could start filming our opening sequences whenever we wanted.
In this screen grab it shows how i used the introduction of Mission Impossible 3. It was great practice when i finally came to editing my film intro. I found it was particularly useful and helpful because it helped me to understand how to edit dialogue over the top of a media production.

Here are three screen shots from my music for Panic Room. I chose to add music and on top of the different tracks of music I chose to use sound effects. I felt that this helps to build the tension and give the audience a little bit of an idea of what the movie might be about without giving away too much.

Mundane Task

I have done this task to test all of the different camera angle shots that could be used for filming my opening sequence. I think that this has been very useful for me because I have deffinately improved on my understanding of final cut pro and I am confident that I can use it to the best of my ability when I create my opening sequence.

Actor Shots

I chose this actor for my film because he portrays a young man dressed in smart clothes with a polo and chino's on. I also chose this person because he highlights a person who is not threatening but he could also be portrayed as some one with power. In the scene he will play smart banker and will be killed.
I chose this person for my scene because he portrays a smart, strong and high powered person. He will be playing the assassin in my film, he will be dressed in a black suit as shown in the picture he will also be heavily armed with weapons under his jacket.

Location Shots

I chose these shots because it shows a empty street in the middle of town, this shows a sense of mystery. I also used this shot because it is night time and because it is raining which makes for a scary and mysterious scene and setting.

Story Board Sketches and animatic

Walking clip

We did the walking scene as a preliminary task by getting in to groups of four with three actors and one person recording. We did this to learn the 180 degree wall and to get use to the new equipment and all the new camera angles we had been told about. These included low, high and medium angle shots. As well as long shots and close ups which are demonstrated at the start of the scene. Using the new FCP equipment (tripod, camera e.t.c.).

Introduction

Hitman screen shots

I like this shot because it shows a dark background and the scene is set at night. This is effective because it the dark black background and scenery contrasts with flame lights also the two men with the bald heads stand out. It uses a long birds eye view shot to set the scene.
I like this because it shows the main character with a middle shot but then it fades out of that shot into a close up shot. I also like it because it shows a long shot of the scene setting, which sets the scene really well.
I like this shot because it shows a close up of his face which shows expression and he looks to be in stress. This is very effective because it shows how the character is feeling just from a shot. I also like it because it shows the water from the shower running down his face, as if it is tears of sadness.
This shot is interesting because it shows a close up of the character who is about to be shot. It is very effective because it uses a heat sensing affect to point out the main person in the shot. It is an amazing shot because it shows all this and it is from the perspective of the Hitman who is about to snipe the character in the shot.
I like this because it displays a side angle shot. It is effective because it highlights the hitman as moving slowly and shows how the to bad guys are unmoved and unaware that they are about to be assassinated. Also because the Hitman is wearing red, he contrast with the black tied bad guys and stands out.
Finally I like this shot because it shows the reflection of the bad guys in the spoon. It is very effective because it highlights how clever the Hitman is and shows how he is always aware of his surroundings. It also uses a low shot of the spoon which shows, he is being discreet and the men are looking for him.

Hide and seek Screen shot

This screen shot uses a high angle and a close up of a young girl. The close up shows concern and the girls face, it is used in this scene to show expression on the young girls face. They also use the high angle to show how the girl is insignificant, weak and has little power over the situation because she is small and young girl. The high angle shot is also used to show how the girl is vulnerable or powerless. Finally it is used to make the scene seem more dramatic because the person at the high point shows power and the girl at a low level  shows less power.

I like this image because it shows an extreme long shot of the city of where the movie is set. I like it because it fades out from the credits straight to the long shot which sets the scene, this is very affective way to start of a film.
I believe this clip is quite menacing and intense because it shows a low angle of the main character, this shows how he has a lot of power and is important to the film. the low shot of the girl highlights how he is talking down to her and that she appears to be intimidated, purely form a one dimensional shot.

This shot invokes mixed feelings. It suggests relaxation with candles around the bath, however the message on the wall is very disturbing because it appears to be written using blood. The contrast of the light of the candles in a darkened room leaves you anticipating that something sinister is about to happen.

In this shot  of the river , surrounded by bare trees suggests a cold and barren area. It is effective because the   river and leafless trees give you a feeling of isolation and maybe hidden secrets in the water. This  highlights how the film could reflect the concept that something evil is about to unfold or that this scene will be about death

I like this image because it shows a high angle shot of the girl and what she is doing. This shot highlights how she appears to be totally unaware of any potential danger as she seems to be focused on an innocent drawing. Also it looks like there maybe someone looking down at her, and she appears to be ignoring him

Interview with the vampire Screen shot

This shot uses a high angle as well as an extreme long shot. The extreme long shot is used to great effect, they are used for setting the scene and shows the landscape. Straight away you know the film is set in a large city and by the fact there is a large bridge in a massive city it looks to be in America, so the long shot is used well to set the scene. It also looks to be a dark and scary film by the looks of the black background and the whit ghost like fading font used.

I like this image because it shows a long shot of the vampire on a house, it is a flash back so it highlights what his life used to be like, how he could go out in the sun and ride to his house on his horse, it is a good picture because it does all this by doing a long shot which sets the scene.
I like this image because it shows a close up of the vampire through a vale. It shows how he is obviously stalking someone, and looking at his pray or looking at a friend, it is a good image because it keeps the tension and dose not give away what is going to happen.

I like this image because it shows a close up of his face which shows expression, it shows that he is obviously distressed in some manner. It is affective because his face is lit up although he is a vampire and is dead.
I like this image because it shows a round table or a party filled with people. It uses a long shot to set the scene, it also highlights how none of the characters in this scene are that important because they would probably use a close up to show that, this shows how they are all probably going to be killed or something is going to happen.
I like this image because it shows where the film is set without using written credits, instead it links it into the shot by showing a sign on top of a building in the scene of San Francisco, it also uses a long shot of the place which sets the scene this is ver affective.
